Early Career

Frank Lewis began his career as a broadcaster at CFCY radio in Charlottetown. At first, he worked as a junior salesman. He then continued on, becoming Vice President and General Manager of the station. Through his time at the company, he established himself as one of Atlantic Canada's most respected broadcasters. It was also during this time, that Lewis' natural talent for working with people inspired loyalty in his staff and created a positive atmosphere in the workplace.

In addition to his career in radio broadcasting, Lewis was also involved in business ventures. Beginning in 1961, Lewis was the owner of Stanhope Ice House and Rentals for a decade. He was also co-owner of Vacationland Travel Park from 1968 to 1983. Lewis retired from the station in 2004, having worked in broadcasting for 38 years. Following his retirement, Lewis worked as a senior advisor for NewCap Radio.

Public Life

Lewis is an active community volunteer. He is a member of the Board and Executive Committee of the Confederation Centre of the Arts, and Chair of the Junior Achievement of Prince Edward Island Business Hall of Fame. He is also a Founding Chairman of the Hillsborough Rotary Club Annual Car Dinner, and founder of the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce's 'Unforgettable Evening' Women's Dinner and Entrepreneurial Excellence Award. In 2006, he was inducted into the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Lewis as Lieutenant-Governor

Frank Lewis was sworn into office as lieutenant-governor on 15 August 2011, succeeding Barbara Anne Hagerman. As Lieutenant Governor, Lewis is Chancellor of the Order of Prince Edward Island.
