Jean-Paul Tardif, financier (b at Québec City 15 May 1923). After graduating from Laval, Tardif began work in 1947 with his father's investment company, Savings and Investment Corp, first as treasurer and then as managing director. In 1951 he became chief executive officer and in 1959, president.

Jean-Paul Tardif, financier (b at Québec City 15 May 1923). After graduating from Laval, Tardif began work in 1947 with his father's investment company, Savings and Investment Corp, first as treasurer and then as managing director. In 1951 he became chief executive officer and in 1959, president. In the 1960s and 1970s several subsidiaries were created and the company became a conglomerate. The companies within the group include Savings and Investment Trust, Aeterna-Life and La St-Maurice (assurance company), Savings and Investment Fund, and Savings and Investment American Fund Ltd. Fidratco, the Tardif family holding company, sold its interests in Aeterna-Life to Desjardins-Laurentian Life Group in 1994 and in Trustco Prêt et Revenu to Laurentian Bank of Canada in 1996.
