Peter Biyiasas, chess grandmaster (b at Athens, Greece 19 Nov 1950). He moved to Canada as a child, began to play seriously in Vancouver in the late 1960s, and won the British Columbia championship 1968-71.

Peter Biyiasas, chess grandmaster (b at Athens, Greece 19 Nov 1950). He moved to Canada as a child, began to play seriously in Vancouver in the late 1960s, and won the British Columbia championship 1968-71. He played as a reserve on the Canadian student team which won a bronze medal in the World University Games at Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, in 1971.

In 1972 he won the Canadian Closed Championship in Toronto and repeated as champion in 1975 in Calgary. He received the grandmaster title in 1978 for his results in 3 tournaments: Olympiad (Haifa) 1976, Lone Pine 1978 and New York 1978. He played on Canadian Olympiad teams in 1972, 1974, 1976 and 1978 before emigrating to the US.
