Zeyda Suzuki (b Ruga). Pianist, teacher, b Havana, Cuba, 29 May l943. She gave her first concert at 5 for the JM in Cuba and then performed on radio and TV. She studied at the Havana Cons.

Zeyda Suzuki (b Ruga). Pianist, teacher, b Havana, Cuba, 29 May l943. She gave her first concert at 5 for the JM in Cuba and then performed on radio and TV. She studied at the Havana Cons. At l2 she took lessons from Nola Sahig, and in l959 she enrolled at the Curtis Institute for studies with Rudolf Serkin which led to her diploma in l963. That year she settled in Quebec City with her husband, the violinist Hidetaro Suzuki. In l96l they began playing as a team, notably in Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, and Stratford, Ont, and recording together. She took part in the Bay Chamber Festival in Camden, Me, in l962, l966, and l972 and toured Japan in l964, l966, l973, and l976, Cuba in l965, and France in l973 and l976. She was a member l970-4 of the Ensemble instrumental du Québec, with which she made an LP (RCI 297). In l974 she played Rodolphe Mathieu'sSonata for piano and participated in a performance of his Quintette at the Pro Musica Society concerts and at the Institut canadien in Quebec City. She taught l970-8 at Laval University, then moved to Indianapolis.
