It was clear from an early age that Rubinek had been bitten by the acting bug. He was encouraged by his parents, who took him to acting classes and allowed him to perform regularly at the Ottawa Little Theatre. Four years later, in 1969, he joined the company at the STRATFORD FESTIVAL in Ontario.
Thompson met Mark MCKINNEY while performing with a sketch comedy troupe called The Love Cats. McKinney was already working with Bruce MCCULLOCH in the comedy duo The Audience. They later teamed up with Dave FOLEY and Kevin McDonald, who were working under the name THE KIDS IN THE HALL.
Invited to the STRATFORD FESTIVAL by Tyrone GUTHRIE to play Isabella opposite James Mason in Measure for Measure in 1954, Hyland returned to Stratford (1955, 1957-59, 1964-57) in a variety of roles including Perdita, Desdemona, and a "definitive" Ophelia opposite Christopher PLUMMER in 1957.
A versatile character actor, Gary Farmer has worked in film, theatre, radio, and television production. He has taken the stage extensively in theatre, and was nominated for a DORA AWARD for best actor for his performance in Tomson HIGHWAY's Dry Lips Oughta Move to Kapuskasing (1989).
