Gerald Arthur Pratley (b at London, Eng 3 Sep 1923, d at Belleville, Ont 14 Mar 2011). A noted film critic and commentator, he was the founder-director of the Ontario Film Institute, established in 1968, an organization with a mandate to preserve, catalogue, publish and exhibit world cinema.
William Kaye Lamb, librarian, author, archivist (born at New Westminster, BC 11 May 1904; died at Vancouver, 24 Aug 1999). Educated at UBC (BA, 1927, MA, 1930), the Sorbonne and London School of Economics (PhD, 1933), Lamb served as provincial librarian and archivist in BC 1934-1940.
Heather Spears, poet, novelist, artist (b at Vancouver, BC 1934). Educated at the Vancouver School of Art and the University of British Columbia, Heather Spears has lived in Denmark since 1962, where she owns the Upper Canada Gallery. She returns to Canada annually for reading and lecture tours.
