Hart House Orchestra. Chamber orchestra founded in July 1954 by Boyd Neel - then dean of the RCMT - along the lines of his famous English group, the Boyd Neel Orchestra. The 18 strings and 4 woodwinds of the new group were reduced ca 1957 to 13 strings, with supplementary players for specific works.
Hallmark Recordings Ltd. One of the earliest companies to concentrate on the recording of Canadian concert artists. It was established in 1952 in Toronto by Keith MacMillan, Bill Woods, John Gallagher, D'Alton Jolly, and John Mitchell to develop an experimental recording method devised by Woods.
The Canada Music Book/ Les Cahiers canadiens de musique. Bilingual periodical published by the Canadian Music Council and edited by Gilles Potvin. The editorial board was made up of directors of the CMCouncil. From issue 7 to issue 10 Adrian Waller acted as assistant editor.
Montreal International Music Festival/Festival international de musique de Montréal. Society founded in 1985 by Philippe Turp, Pierre-Yvon Lavoie, and Louis Turp to promote classical music through concerts, master classes, round table discussions, conferences, and exhibitions.
