Atlantic Symphony Orchestra/Orchestre symphonique de l'Atlantique. Canada's first and only full-time regional orchestra, active 1968-83. The orchestra was formed 12 Jun 1968 with the support of committees in Halifax and Sydney, NS, and Saint John, Moncton, and Fredericton, NB.
Amadeus Ensemble. A string ensemble formed in Toronto in 1984, the Amadeus Ensemble gave its first subscription concert 27 Jan 1985. Its original principal players were Moshe Hammer and Fujiko Imajishi, violins; Douglas Perry, viola; Peter Schenkman, cello; and Joel Quarrington, double bass.
Association de musique actuelle de Québec (AMAQ). Non-profit organization founded in June 1978 by Irène Brisson, Claude Brisson, Pierre Genest, Michel Drapeau, Odile Magnan, André Morin, and Gisèle Ricard to promote and disseminate contemporary music from Canada (especially Quebec) and abroad.
Manitoba Registered Music Teachers' Association (MRMTA). Founded in 1919 as the Winnipeg Music Teachers' Association by some 80 teachers brought together by Eva Clare and Mrs R.D. Fletcher, then the president of the Women's Musical Club of Winnipeg. Rhys Thomas was elected the first president.
