Fabienne Thibeault. Singer, songwriter, b Montreal 16 Jun 1952. She studied songwriting with Sylvain Lelièvre at de Maisonneuve College, where she began singing songs by Jeff Lamothe, author of 'Contrecoeur' and 'L'Écureuil'.

Thérèse Laporte. Soprano, b Montreal 11 Jun 1932. After taking violin lessons, she studied voice with Albert Cornellier and 1949-50 with Martial Singher at the CMM.

Fernand Leduc, painter (born 4 July 1916 in Viauville, QC; died 28 January 2014 in Montréal, QC). A seminarist with the Frères maristes, Fernand Leduc entered the École des beaux-arts de Montréal in 1938. After graduation in 1943, he left the church and shortly after became a member of the Contemporary Arts Society.

Gilbert studied analysis, and composition at the CMM with Michel Gonneville and Serge Provost, and at McGill with John Rea.

Sorel Etrog, CM, artist, writer, philosopher (born 29 August 1933 in Laşi, Romania; died 26 February 2014 in Toronto, Ontario). For more than half a century, Sorel Etrog was one of Canada’s most renowned contemporary sculptors.

Gilbert Patenaude. Conductor, composer, b Montreal 30 Apr 1947; BA (Montreal) 1966. Following piano and organ studies at the École Vincent-d'Indy, he studied voice with Pierre Mollet, orchestral conducting with Rémus Tzincoca and analysis with Gilles Tremblay at the CMM.

Paul-Émile Léger, cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church (b at Valleyfield, Qué (now Salaberry-de-Valleyfield) 25 Apr 1904; d at Montreal 13 Nov 1991), brother of Jules LÉGER.

Pierre Charbonneau. Bass, b Montreal 14 Jun 1944. He studied singing at the CMM 1959-61 and later privately with Dina Maria Narici. In 1968 he won the first prize for interpretation at the Munich International Competition.

Alain Lamontagne. Harmonica player, composer, singer, storyteller, actor, b Verdun (Montreal) 14 Jul 1952. He began playing harmonica in his teens.

Pierre Bourque Saxophone Quartet/Quatuor de saxophones Pierre-Bourque. Founded in Quebec City in 1963 by the soprano saxophonist Pierre Bourque and three of his pupils at the CMQ - Claude Brisson, alto; Rémi Ménard, tenor (replaced by Jacques Larocque in 1971); and Jean Bouchard, baritone.
