Michael John O'Brien, railway builder, industrialist, philanthropist (b at Lochaber, NS 19 Sept 1851; d at Renfrew, Ont 26 Nov 1940). O'Brien left school while he was in grade 8 to work as a water boy on a railway construction site.
Lovell, John. Printer, publisher, b Bandon, County Cork, Ireland, 4 Aug 1810, d Montreal 1 Jul 1893. He arrived in Canada in 1820 and began his career as a printer in Montreal in 1835, concentrating on periodicals and newspapers.
John (Charles) Bird. Publisher, euphonium player, b Belgaum, India, 2 Nov 1923, d Toronto 26 Feb 2006. After World War II service as a euphonium player in the RCAF Band John Bird joined Gordon V. Thompson Ltd in 1946 and served as sales manager 1950-5 and general manager 1955-65.
Patricia (Pat) Duncan, business woman, politician, premier of Yukon (b at Edmonton, Alta, 8 Apr 1960). Duncan received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton University in 1983. She then became Special Assistant (Constituency Affairs) in the office of Yukon MP Erik NIELSEN.
Sir William Mackenzie, railway entrepreneur (b in Eldon Twp, Peterborough County, Canada W 17 or 30 Oct 1849; d at Toronto 5 Dec 1923). Though he was both a teacher and local politician, his chief interest was business.

Cyrus Stephen Eaton, financier, philanthropist (b at Pugwash, NS 27 Dec 1883; d at Cleveland, Ohio 9 May 1979). Educated at McMaster, Eaton moved to the US in 1900. He became involved in public utilities and after 1925 in steel, eventually forming Republic Steel.

David See-Chai Lam, OC, CVO, OBC, 25th lieutenant-governor of BC 1988–95, banker, land developer, philanthropist (born 25 July 1923 in Hong Kong; died 22 November 2010 in Vancouver, BC). After establishing himself as a successful banker in Hong Kong, David Lam moved to Vancouver in 1967 and became a central figure in the city’s real estate development. As a philanthropist, he made major contributions to the cultural life, community spaces and educational institutions of British Columbia. A vocal advocate of immigration and of Canada’s role within the Pacific Rim, Lam served as lieutenant-governor of British Columbia from 1988 to 1995. He was the first person of Asian ancestry to hold a vice-regal post in Canada.
