George (Henry) Ziegler. Teacher, bandmaster, organist-choirmaster, b. Berlin (Kitchener), Ont, 1 Aug 1889, d. there 22 Oct 1981; LTCM piano 1909, ATCM organ 1912. He played in the Ziegler Family Orchestra and at 13 became the youngest member of the Berlin Musical Society Band.
Camille Couture. Violinist, teacher, violin maker, (b Loretteville, near Quebec City, 23 Feb 1876, d Montreal 27 Jun 1961). He first studied violin for seven years with Jean Duquette in Montreal.
Max Wyman. Writer, critic, educator, administrator, actor, b Wellingborough, England, 14 May 1939, naturalized Canadian 1979; honorary D LITT (Simon Fraser) 2003. Max Wyman studied piano and theory as a youth and began his career in journalism with the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph at 14.

Marshall Sumner. Pianist, teacher, b Melbourne 22 Sep 1907, naturalized Canadian 1956; B MUS (Chicago Musical College) 1933. He studied 1923-7 at the University of Melbourne and 1927-33 with Percy Grainger, Rudolph Ganz, and Alexander Raab at the Chicago Musical College.
Calvin Carl Gotlieb, "Kelly," computer scientist, university professor (b at Toronto 27 Mar 1921). A pioneer in the computer industry, Gotlieb received a PhD in physics from the University of Toronto in 1947.
(Barbara) Ann Burrows. Teacher, critic, b Entrance, west of Edmonton, 16 Jul 1922; ARCM 1945, M MUS (Indiana) 1964, honorary LL D (Alberta) 1987. Her teachers included Frank Merrick and Frank Howes at the RCM 1942-6, Boris Roubakine in Banff, and Raymond Dudley and György Sebök at Indiana U.
(Pierre-Joseph) Amédée Tremblay. Organist, composer, teacher, b Montreal 14 Apr 1876, d Los Angeles 1949. He began study at 12 with Father Sauvé, the organist at St-Joseph Church, Montreal, continuing with Alcibiade Béique (piano and organ) and Father Cléophas Borduas (Gregorian chant).
Frederick Philip Grove, author, teacher, translator (b Felix Paul Berthold Friedrich Greve at Randomno, Germany 2 Feb 1879; d at Simcoe, Ont 19 Aug 1948).
John King Gordon (b at Winnipeg 6 Dec 1900; d at Ottawa 24 Feb 1989), son of Charles GORDON (pen name Ralph Connor). After studying at the universities of Manitoba, Oxford and the Union Theological Seminary, Gordon taught at United Theological College in Montréal.
George B. (Buckley) Sippi. Organist, choirmaster, teacher, b Bombay 10 Mar 1847, d London, Ont, 18 Sep 1915. His family returned in 1854 to Ireland from India, where his Italian grandfather had settled. He attended Queen's College in Cork and studied piano and organ with his uncle, John A.
