Arthur Plamondon

(Joseph) Arthur Plamondon. Tenor, teacher, b Montreal 9 June 1881, d near Paris between 1939 and 1945; lauréat (AMQ). He studied paino with Émery Lavigne and then voice with Guillaume Couture, and became a soloist at the Montreal cathedral. He subsequently studied and gave concerts in Paris.

(Joseph) Arthur Plamondon. Tenor, teacher, b Montreal 9 June 1881, d near Paris between 1939 and 1945; lauréat (AMQ). He studied paino with Émery Lavigne and then voice with Guillaume Couture, and became a soloist at the Montreal cathedral. He subsequently studied and gave concerts in Paris. He married the soprano Alice Michot, who returned to Montreal with him in 1908 and was later a member of the Montreal Opera Company. They founded the École de chant Plamondon-Michot, but returned to Paris in 1920. During this period Plamondon appeared in recital, singing songs by Louis Aubert with the composer at the piano. The Plamondons moved to New York in 1927, but returned to Paris two years later. Alice Raymond, who taught Raoul Jobin, was a pupil of Alice Michot, and Albertine Morin-Labrecque and Henri Prieur were pupils of Plamondon. Plamondon died in the St-Denis concentration camp during World War II.
