Marcel Elphage Dionne, hockey player (b at Drummondville, Que 3 Aug 1951). After an eventful career as a junior at St Catharines in which he was twice the top scorer in the OHL, he was first choice of the Detroit Red Wings in the amateur draft of 1971.

Marcel Elphage Dionne, hockey player (b at Drummondville, Que 3 Aug 1951). After an eventful career as a junior at St Catharines in which he was twice the top scorer in the OHL, he was first choice of the Detroit Red Wings in the amateur draft of 1971. After 4 seasons he went to the Kings in Los Angeles as a free agent, where he had 6 seasons with more than 50 goals before being traded to the New York Rangers in 1987, where he played until his retirement in 1989.

Marcel Dionne won the ART ROSS TROPHY (leading scorer, 1980), the LADY BYNG TROPHY (1975, 1977), and the Pearson Trophy (1979, 1980) for his contribution to hockey in Canada, and was first all-star centre in 1977 and 1980. In 1988 he surpassed Phil ESPOSITO to become the second-highest scorer in NHL history at the time. When he retired his 731 goals, 1040 assists and 1771 points put him behind only Wayne GRETZKY and Gordie HOWE on the all-time points and goals list. He was inducted into the HOCKEY HALL OF FAME in 1992.
