Alain Caron, composer, bassist and arranger (b at Saint-Éloi, Québec 5 May 1955). Known as a virtuoso on his instrument, he was part of the jazz-fusion group Uzeb from 1976 to 1990.

Alain Caron, composer, bassist and arranger (b at Saint-Éloi, Québec 5 May 1955). Known as a virtuoso on his instrument, he was part of the jazz-fusion group Uzeb from 1976 to 1990. After making an album in 1992 with Michel Donato, another double bass virtuoso, Alain Caron toured Europe, Korea, China and Québec with Didier Lockwood and Jean-Marie Ecay in 1993. On his return, he formed his own group, Le Band, with whom he recorded his compositions and made a Canadian and European tour in 1994, followed by another tour of Europe the next year. A "Hommage to Alain Caron" at the Montreal International Jazz Festival in 1996, offered him the occasion to play with several friends including trumpeter Tiger Okoshi and pianist James Gelfand. In addition to his touring activities, Alain Caron gives seminars and teaching sessions, particularly in California. He is a spokesperson for several musical instrument companies.
