For 44 years Lang was an executive of the Dominion Steel and Coal Corporation (DOSCO), Maritime Canada's largest integrated steel producer. After working with the Brownell Improvement Co and several Chicago-area steel companies, Lang went to Montréal in 1914 as manager of Peck Rolling Mills. By 1920 he was managing director. In 1930 he joined DOSCO as a vice-president. He had a sound knowledge of the steel industry and utter devotion to his company. In 1948 he became president of DOSCO and its subsidiary companies and was chairman from 1950 until he retired in 1957. The unexpected death of his successor as president obliged Lang to return to DOSCO at age 70. He died in office.
