Herbert Drost

Herbert (Mason) Drost. Lawyer, choir conductor, music dealer, publisher, b Hartney, near Brandon, Man, 19 Nov 1892, d Vancouver 20 Jan 1979. He studied music in Vancouver and took part in musical activities in Montreal while a law student at McGill University, from which he graduated in 1914.

Herbert (Mason) Drost. Lawyer, choir conductor, music dealer, publisher, b Hartney, near Brandon, Man, 19 Nov 1892, d Vancouver 20 Jan 1979. He studied music in Vancouver and took part in musical activities in Montreal while a law student at McGill University, from which he graduated in 1914. In Vancouver he founded (and conducted 1930-4) the Vancouver Bach Choir, initiated choral broadcasts from the west coast (1934, Handel's Messiah), and established Western Music Co (1930-70), which also published Western Music News (1934-54).
