Sondra Gotlieb, author (b at Winnipeg 30 Dec 1936). Educated in Winnipeg, she has published 2 novels: True Confections (1978), subtitled Or How My Family Arranged My Marriage, which won the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour, and First Lady, Last Lady (1981), a lively tale of diplomatic life. Gotlieb also writes nonfiction: The Gourmet's Canada (1972), Cross Canada Cooking (1976), and has written articles for Saturday Night, Maclean's, Chatelaine and the New York Times. In 1985 she published "Wife of ...," a collection of her bimonthly columns in the Washington Post. This irreverent account of life in US Powertown is a universal undressing of public personalities, written with characteristic wit.
