Widening of the Trans-Canada Highway west of the Banff town site revealed several early archaeological localities deeply buried beneath debris flow fan deposits. Sites occupied between 11 000 and 19 200 years ago contain bifacial cores and flakes removed from them.

Sites occupied between 11 000 and 19 200 years ago contain bifacial cores and flakes removed from them. Lanceolate leaf-shaped and stemmed spear points were used at sites occupied between 10 200 and 9600 years ago.
