Andriy Nahachewsky

Dr. Andriy Nahachewsky is a professor at the University of Alberta. He occupies the Huculak Chair of Ukrainian Culture and Ethnography and serves as director of the Kule Centre for Ukrainian and Canadian Folklore. His research interests and publications deal with Ukrainian dance, Ukrainian traditions in the twentieth century, material culture, the Ukrainian Canadian experience, ethnic dance and ethnographic methodology. He is also curator of the Bohdan Medwidsky Ukrainian Folklore Archives, a multimedia repository of resources on Ukrainian culture. He was the principle investigator of The Local Culture and Diversity on the Prairies Project, producing a large corpus of interviews with people who remember local prairie culture prior to 1939. He is author of some 40 academic articles and is engaged in promoting understanding of folklore and Ukrainian tradition locally, nationally and internationally.
