Julie Smyth is a journalist based in Ottawa. She has worked as an editor and reporter at a number of national publications in Canada and Britain, including the National Post and The Sunday Times in the UK. Her work has also appeared in The Globe and Mail, Maclean’s, Scotland on Sunday and Toronto Life. She was part of the team that launched the Post in 1998 and had a front page story in the paper’s first edition about Captain Robert Falcon Scott, the famed English explorer who died after an ill-fated race to be the first man to reach the South Pole. During her journalism career, Julie has covered everything from politics and education to health and breaking news. Julie was born in Vancouver, grew up around Toronto and lived in Scotland for four years. She loves the great Canadian outdoors and has two children.
