Shaneen Robinson-Desjarlais

Shaneen Robinson-Desjarlais is a multi-award-winning Indigenous journalist who has been on the Canadian media scene for more than 15 years. A proud wife, mother and foster mother, Shaneen is committed to sharing stories that matter. She’s been a part of the CTV Winnipeg News team where her hard-hitting stories aired on CTV Newsnet/News Channel, CTV National News and CNN. She also worked for many years as a reporter/correspondent for APTN National News and garnered much attention for her award-winning three-part series about the sacred sundance ceremony. She is very proud of her latest work, “Breaching the Sacred,” a 22-minute piece that tackles the tragic reality of Indigenous women living with addictions and using while pregnant. Shaneen is well known across the country and is dedicated to volunteering and promoting up-and-coming Indigenous talent in her free time. She was honoured to win first place for Historica Canada’s Canadian Aboriginal Writing Challenge in 2008 for her feature-length play Notay Kiskintamowin “Wanting to Know”. Shaneen aspires to continue working with Indigenous Elders, youth and women and continue to share stories that should be of importance to all Canadians.
