John Archibald Armstrong, business executive (b at Dauphin, Man 24 Mar 1917). A geologist, he graduated from University of Manitoba and worked 42 years for Imperial Oil, Canada's largest oil company, including 4 as president and 8 as chairman of the board, before retiring 1982.
Clarence Dexter Wiseman, general of the SALVATION ARMY (b at Moreton's Harbour, Nfld 19 June 1907; d at Toronto 4 May 1985). Wiseman was commissioned as an officer in the Salvation Army in 1927. During WWII he became the senior SA representative with the Canadian Armed Forces Overseas.
Reuben Ewart Stavert, mine executive (b at Kingston, Jamaica 3 Oct 1893; d at Montréal 19 Nov 1981). Stavert graduated from McGill in 1914 and served in the CEF in WWI. He worked at Canadian General Electric 1919-22; then he joined the British Metal Corp of Canada, of which he was president 1931-34.
Margaret Marshall Saunders, writer (b at Milton, NS 13 Apr 1861; d at Toronto 15 Feb 1947). She moved with her family to Halifax at age 6. At 15 she attended boarding school in Edinburgh, then studied French at Orléans. On her return home she taught school for a short time.
