Westport, NS, incorporated as a village in 1946, population 234 (2011c), 249 (2006c). The Village of Westport is located at the southern tip of Digby Neck, on the eastern side of Brier Island.

Originally incorporated as a village in 1855 and as a city in 1890, it adopted the name of the township in which it is situated. The name is a historical reminder of the role played in 19th-century British politics by George Nugent Temple Grenville, 1st Marquis of Buckingham (1753-1813).

Belledune, NB, incorporated as a village in 1968, population 1548 (2011c), 1711 (2006c). The Village of Belledune was reincorporated in 1994 to include Jacquet River, Armstrong Brook, Archibald Settlement, Sunnyside, Becketville and Mitchell Settlement.

NORWEGIAN settlers arrived in the area at the beginning of the 20th century. The community that sprang up to service the area was originally called Mandel after their hometown in Norway.

The NORTH WEST COMPANY had a post at the Portage as early as 1808 and the HUDSON'S BAY COMPANY soon followed suit. Here the Athabasca and Mackenzie River brigades exchanged goods and furs with the La Loche brigade.

Sexsmith, Alta, incorporated as a village in 1929 and as a town in 1979, population 2418 (2011c), 1969 (2006c). The Town of Sexsmith is 43 km north of GRANDE PRAIRIE on Highway 2. The district was first settled in 1911, with a post office called Sexsmith established in 1912.

Borden, Sask, incorporated as a village in 1909, population 245 (2011c), 223 (2006c). The Village of Borden is located about 65 km northwest of Saskatoon. The village was originally named Baltimore but was renamed by the Canadian Northern Railway after Sir Frederick Borden.

Sherbrooke Village in Sherbrooke, NS, is unusual in that it is not a collection of historic buildings moved into a reconstructed townsite, but rather the older portion of the actual village of Sherbrooke.

Chester, NS, incorporated as a village in 1963, population 1529 (2011c), 1496 (2006c). The Village of Chester, 72 km west of HALIFAX, is situated on a point of land bounded by a harbour, at the north end of Mahone Bay.

Valleyview, Alta, incorporated as a village in 1954 and as a town in 1957, population 1761 (2011c), 1725 (2006c). The Town of Valleyview is located 105 km east of GRANDE PRAIRIE. The first homesteaders took up land in the area in the late 1910s and the district was called Red Willow.
