Leslie Gordon Barnard, short story writer (b at Montréal, 1890; d at Toronto, 1961). Born in Montréal, Leslie Gordon Barnard was one of Canada's most prolific SHORT STORY writers.

Charles Marion Lillard, poet, historian, publisher, teacher, logger, fisher (b at Long Beach, Ca 26 Feb 1944; d at Victoria, BC 27 Mar 1997). The son of a fishing couple, Charles Lillard spent much of his childhood on the waters off the southeast coast of Alaska.

Cyril Knowlton Nash, journalist, broadcasting executive (born 18 November 1927 in Toronto, ON; died 24 May 2014 in Toronto).

In 1906 he accompanied the expedition negotiating Treaty 9 to James Bay and from 1907 to 1910 made annual trips to the prairies to draw pastel portraits of Indigenous leaders, many of whom had signed major treaties of the 1870s.

The millennial generation (also known as Generation Y) refers to a cohort of people born roughly between 1980 and 1996, though some have a more restrictive definition (see Population of Canada). Most millennials are children of members of the baby boom generation, a term which refers to those born immediately following the end of the Second World War. Loverboy. Vancouver rock band, active 1979-89. It was formed in Calgary by Paul Dean (guitarist, b Vancouver 19 Feb 1946; previously with Streetheart, Scrubbaloe Caine, etc) and Mike Reno (singer, b New Westminster, BC, 8 Jan 1955; previously with Moxy as Mike Rynoski) with others.

Rob (Robert Murray Gordon) McConnell. Valve trombonist, composer, arranger, bandleader, b London, Ont, 14 Feb 1935, d Toronto, 1 May 2010; honorary D LITT (St Francis Xavier) 1986.

Anvil. Heavy metal band, formed in 1978 in Toronto and consisting of guitarist-vocalist Steve “Lips” Kudlow, drummer Robb Reiner and bassist Sal Italiano.

Spring Hurlbut, artist (b at Toronto, Ont 11 April 1952) studied art at the ONTARIO COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN from 1971 to 1973 and at the NOVA SCOTIA COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN from 1973 to 1975. For many years, Hurlbut was concerned with exploring conjunctions between art and architecture.
