Sidney Robinovitch. Composer, teacher, b Brandon, Man, 16 Jul 1942; BA (Manitoba) 1963, PH D (Illinois) 1970. With a doctorate in communications, Robinovitch taught in the school of social sciences at York University 1970-7 when he left to pursue a career in music.

Ronald Turini. Pianist, teacher, b Montreal 30 Sep 1934; premier prix (CMM) 1950. Born of a US-Italian father and a Canadian mother of Danish origin, he had piano lessons as a very young child from his mother and from Frank Hanson at the McGill Cons.

Charles Bohner. Composer, arranger, teacher, fl Toronto 1882-98. Bohner, who had a music studio on Yonge St, wrote songs and piano pieces, of which the earliest extant, Aesthetic Valse and Claxton's Grand March (1882, both for piano), were published by T. Claxton.

Gregori Garbovitsky. Violinist, conductor, teacher, b Kreavri, near Dniepropetrovsk, Russia, 1892, d New York October 1954. He studied violin at the St Petersburg Cons with Leopold Auer (at the same time as Kathleen Parlow and Jascha Heifetz) and composition with Alexander Glazunov.
