« When the Ice Worms Nest Again ». Chanson préférée des prospecteurs et des trappeurs du Nord canadien et, plus tard, chanson thème des réunions annuelles des ouvriers des mines d'argent à Cobalt (Ont.) et des trappeurs de fourrures à Le Pas (Man.). Son origine demeure mystérieuse, mais elle semble avoir être chantée pour la première fois dans le Nord de la Colombie-Britannique et au Yukon, et pourrait dater de la ruée vers l'or du Klondike en 1898. Robert W. Service publie un texte sous ce titre dans ses Twenty Bath-Tub Ballads en 1938, mais les couplets traditionnels en diffèrent considérablement. Wilf Carter enregistre une version légèrement différente chez RCA Victor dans les années 1940 (48-0319). La chanson est publiée (Folk Songs of Canada de Fowke et Johnston, 1954) et enregistrée (Folk Songs of Canada, CS-3) chez Waterloo. Cette chanson est également chantée par Alan Mills sur Canada's Story in Song (Smithsonian Folkways FW3000). Murray Adaskin en fait un arrangement pour cordes.
