Andy Thê-Anh, fashion designer (b at Saigon, Vietnam, 1965). Andy Thê-Anh moved to Québec at the young age of 16. Having lost both parents, Thê-Anh, with his grandparents and two sisters, resided with close family members in the francophone province for the majority of his youth.

Grauerholz's work has been shown in exhibition for over 12 years and occupies an important place in Canadian and international photography.

Anik Bissonnette, OC, CQ, ballerina, arts administrator (born at Montréal 9 Feb 1962). Québec's best-known ballerina, Anik Bissonnette is renowned for her exceptional musicality, purity of line and extraordinary balances, and for using her technical assurance to plumb exciting emotional depths. After garnering wide acclaim in many performances with Louis Robitaille, she was a principal dancer at Les Grands Ballets Canadiens (LGBC) from 1989 to 2007 and made annual appearances at Montréal's Gala des Étoiles from 1983 until 2006. She was artistic director of the Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur from 2004 to 2014, and has been artistic director of the École supérière de ballet contemporain de Montréal since 2010. An Officer of the Order of Canada and a Chevalière of the National Order of Québec, she has received the Prix Denis Pelletier and the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement.

 Ann Blades's illustrations for Betty Waterton's A Salmon for Simon (1978), set in a native fishing village, received the Canada Council Children's Literature Prize. By the Sea: An Alphabet Book (1985) won the Elizabeth Meazik-Cleaver Award for Illustration.

Anna Weber, folk painter, fraktur artist (b in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pa 3 June 1814; d in Woolwich Twp, Waterloo County, Ont 12 Oct 1888). Weber immigrated to UC in 1825 and, following the death of her parents, moved from one Mennonite family to another until her own death.

Anne Douglas Savage, painter (b at Montréal 27 July 1896; d there 25 Mar 1971). Best known during her lifetime as a pioneer in teaching children's art along progressive lines, Anne Savage's early paintings were initially strongly influenced by the Group of Seven.

Anne Kahane, sculptor (b at Vienna, Austria 1 Mar 1924). Kahane is nationally recognized for dense, monumental and 3-dimensional figures carved in wood, portraying political satire, humour and human foibles. She immigrated with her parents in 1925, settling in Montréal at age 5.

In 1973 av Paul moved to Montréal, joining Les Grands Ballets Canadiens as principal dancer. Her beauty, artistic maturity and versatility won her a wide-ranging repertoire in both purely classical and neo-classical works and she created many roles in new ballets including several by Macdonald.

Winner of the Sobey Art Award in 2006 and included in prestigious international exhibitions such as Documenta in Kassel, Germany, and in collections like that of the National Gallery of Canada, Annie Pootoogook was born into a family of accomplished Inuit artists. She is the daughter of graphic artist Napachie Pootoogook and printmaker and carver Eegyvudluk Pootoogook, and is the granddaughter of Pitseolak Ashoona. Her uncle was Kananginak Pootoogook.

Over the years, Urquhart has evolved a uniquely transcendent multi-media mode of expression, creating a visual poetry that goes beyond merely formalist concerns and embodies imagery of universal meaning and cross-cultural relevance.

A fervent polemicist, Plamondon frequently wrote to the newspapers to argue his pictorial ideas and attack his rivals. In 1851, a year after winning a first prize with his Chasse aux tourtes at the Exposition de Québec, he moved his studio to Neuville, about 30 km upstream from Québec.

Aqjangajuk Shaa (Axangayu), artist (b at Shartoweetuk camp near Cape Dorset, NWT 17 Mar 1937). Aqjangajuk, who began carving in stone in the 1950s, does not do a great deal of detailing; instead he works for a total effect,

Arlene Stamp, painter (b at London, Ont 4 June 1938). Stamp studied art at the Alberta College of Art and Design (1974-76) and the University of Calgary (BFA, 1979, and post-graduate studies from 1979-80). Previously she had studied mathematics at the University of Western Ontario (BA, 1960).

Armand J.R. Vaillancourt, sculptor (b at Black Lake, Qué 3 Sept 1929). He studied at the École des beaux-arts in Montréal. An inventor of new techniques, he uses modern materials such as welded metal.

Arnold Theodore Spohr, dancer, choreographer, teacher, director (b at Rhein, Sask 26 Dec 1927, d at Winnipeg 12 April 2010). Arnold Spohr was one of the most respected and best-loved figures in Canadian ballet.

One of the Regina Five, Art McKay was influenced in the 1960s by Barnett Newman at the Emma Lake Artists' Workshops and was included in Clement Greenberg's 1964 "Post-Painterly Abstraction" exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum.

Arthur Goss documented the poor living conditions of immigrant families and the impact of poverty on the health and welfare of children in impoverished areas of Toronto like St. John’s Ward for the Department of Public Health.

Arthur Lipsett, filmmaker (born at Montréal 13 May 1936; died April 1986), worked at the National Film Board of Canada (1958- 70) where he was one of very few to make experimental films.
