(Gilbert) Glen Harrison. Educator, choir conductor, tenor, b Winnipeg 3 Jun 1929; BA (Manitoba) 1950, AMM (Manitoba) 1960, M ED (Manitoba) 1973. His main teachers were Nina Dempsey and Ruby Moir. He taught school music until 1961 when he became co-ordinator of music in the Seven Oaks school district of West Kildonan, Winnipeg. In 1973, for the Manitoba Dept of Education, he began supervising radio and TV school broadcasts heard in western Canada. In 1978 he became co-ordinator of music for Winnipeg School Division No. 1. With Beth Douglas and Colin Walley he was co-author of the junior high school textbooks Fanfare Acts I and II (Toronto 1969). He was the tenor soloist 1951-3 at Young United Church, and became choirmaster in 1956 at Westminster United Church, where, in addition to services, he has presented Haydn's Nelson Mass, Vivaldi's Gloria, and the Brahms Requiem. Harrison began a long association with Rainbow Stage in 1954 as a member of the chorus. He continued 1955-63 as chorusmaster and 1963-72 as music director. He was named musical co-ordinator in 1973.
