Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada
The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) dates from 1911 and assumed its present name in 1965. Its members are Canada's public and private, not-for-profit universities and university-degree level colleges. Four provincial and regional associations of universities and some 20 national organizations representing specific academic or administrative interests are also members.
A voluntary organization with its permanent secretariat in Ottawa, the AUCC has a major advocacy agenda and a related and strong research and policy analysis function; promotes and facilitates co-operation and sharing among its members; administers under contract a large portfolio of scholarships and international programs; and serves as a clearing house of information of Canadian higher education.
Its publications include a magazine, University Affairs, published 10 times a year, and an annual Directory of Canadian Universities.
