Isadore Sharp is the son of working class Jewish Polish immigrants. He was educated at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute in Toronto and then attended Ryerson University. At Ryerson, Sharp received an honours in architecture in 1952 and a Silver Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement and Extra-Curricular Activitiy. Sharp entered the hotel industry in 1960 and by 1961 opened the first Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto. Four Seasons currently owns or operates more than 100 properties worldwide. In 1992 he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada and is the current chair of the Board of Directors of Four Seasons Hotels Inc.
