Victoria Meredith (b Steward). Mezzo-soprano, teacher, choir conductor, organist, b Berkeley, Cal, 27 Apr 1949, B MUS ED (Indiana) 1972, M MUS (Northern Colorado) 1975. Meredith has taught voice at Northland College in Ashland, Wisc, 1973-4, the University of Wisconsin 1972-4, the University of Northern Colorado 1974-5, Mount St Joseph Academy, London, Ont (where she was head of music), 1977-85, and the University of Western Ontario 1975-80 and again 1984-91. She has conducted the University of Western Ontario Choir 1983-7, Les Choristes beginning in 1984, and the Con Voci Festive chamber choir beginning in 1986. She has been director of music at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Superior, Wisc, 1972-4, First St. Andrew's United Church, London, Ont, 1983-4, and St George's Presbyterian Church, London, Ont, beginning in 1985. As mezzo-soprano or alto soloist she has performed in works such as Bach's Magnificat, St John Passion, and St Matthew Passion, Vivaldi's Gloria, and Duruflé's Requiem; she also sings frequently with historical ensembles, often with her husband, Henry Meredith. She has written articles for the Canadian Music Educator and the Choral Journal, and is a consultant for publications by Brass Press of scholarly editions involving voice.
