Antonio Létourneau

Antonio Létourneau. Organist, pianist, teacher, b Quebec City 28 Aug 1885, d Montreal 29 Oct 1948. As a child he was a soloist in Notre-Dame Church in Montreal. He began his musical studies in 1900 with Caroline Racicot and as early as 1904 was a pupil of R.-O.

Antonio Létourneau. Organist, pianist, teacher, b Quebec City 28 Aug 1885, d Montreal 29 Oct 1948. As a child he was a soloist in Notre-Dame Church in Montreal. He began his musical studies in 1900 with Caroline Racicot and as early as 1904 was a pupil of R.-O. Pelletier (piano and organ) and later of Alfred La Liberté. He was organist 1917-20 of St-Georges Church and 1920-48 of St-Louis-de-France, where he had been assistant organist 1913-17. He was a teacher of solfège at the Schola cantorum, taught piano and organ privately and at the Conservatoire national, and was on the conservatory's board of directors. His pupils included Françoise Aubut and Colombe Pelletier. In 1912 he married the singer Marie-Anne Godbout (b Quebec City 8 Oct 1885, d Montreal 5 Mar 1972).
