Ryswick, Treaty of

Ryswick, Treaty of, concluded 20 July-30 Oct 1697 between England, the Netherlands, Spain and the Holy Roman Empire on the one side and by France on the other, ending the War of the Grand Alliance (King William's War) and recognizing William III as king of England. The agreement between England and France provided for restoration of all territorial conquests (principally Hudson's Bay Company posts seized by Pierre le Moyne d' Iberville between 1686 and 1697) and the establishment of a commission to determine the status of 3 disputed forts in the Hudson Bay region.
