Killarney, Ont, incorporated as a municipality in 1999, population 505 (2011c), 459 (2006c). The Municipality of Killarney is located along Killarney Channel on the north shore of Georgian Bay. Nearby is Killarney Provincial Park.
Garson, Manitoba, unincorporated village, population 483 (2011c), 324 (2006c). Garson was incorporated as the Village of Lyall in 1915 and amalgamated into the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead in 2003. The community is located 37 km northeast of Winnipeg.

The community's growth beyond that of others in the area came as a result of its designation as a divisional point by the railway. The importance of the railway has since been balanced somewhat by the city's role as a service centre for the poultry, livestock and grain farmers in the area.

Lower Canada was a British colony from 1791 to 1840. Its geographical boundaries comprised the southern portion of present-day Quebec. In 1791, Britain divided the Province of Quebec into Upper Canada and Lower Canada. (See: Constitutional Act 1791.) Britain had followed a similar policy of territorial division twice before. Prince Edward Island was detached from Nova Scotia in 1769. The provinces of Cape Breton and New Brunswick were created in 1784 in response to the wave of Loyalist immigration (which also occurred in Quebec). In 1841, Upper Canada and Lower Canada were renamed Canada West and Canada East, respectively. They were united as the single colony of the Province of Canada.
Morinville, Alta, incorporated as a village in 1901 and as a town in 1911, population 8569 (2011c), 6775 (2006c). The Town of Morinville is located on the Canadian National Railway main line, 41 km northwest of Edmonton.
This part of the Yukon is home to the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations and the site of the village -- called Dakwakada or "high cache" -- was used as a stopping place along a trade route. Today Haines Junction is their administrative centre.
