Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, incorporated as a town in 1991, population 13 725 (2011c), 13 558 (2006c). The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor is comprised of two towns, which were amalgamated in 1991. It is located in central Newfoundland on the Exploits River.

Lumsden, Sask, incorporated as a town in 1905, population 1631 (2011c), 1523 (2006c). The Town of Lumsden is located 26 km northeast of REGINA, nestled in the rolling terrain of the QU'APPELLE RIVER valley. The first settlers arrived in 1881 and named their community Happy Hollow.
The Oblate Fathers founded the mission Notre-Dame du Désert in 1849. Soon after, many settlers moved into the area, drawn by the forest's economic potential. A forest industry was established and provided the livelihood for the residents of the region. In 1851, Maniwaki was declared a parish.
In 1918 a convent was built in the town as well as a college, which was affiliated with UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA; other Catholic buildings followed: a Romanesque cathedral (1919), a monastery (1926) and a hospital.
The Cree and Saulteaux signed Treaty 4 at this site in 1874, and a year later a North-West Mounted Police outpost was established near the present townsite.
Nipawin is situated at a point on the Saskatchewan River where the prairie and woodland meet. It also lies between 2 lakes (Tobin, 1963 and Codette, 1986) that are the result of hydroelectricity development on the river.
Portugal Cove-St Philip's, NL, incorporated as a town in 1992, population 7366 (2011c), 6575 (2006c). The Town of Portugal Cove-St Philip's is the result of the amalgamation of three former towns, Portugal Cove, St Philip's and Hogan's Pond, and the lands surrounding the communities.
In the early 19th century it became a major agricultural town and an important crossroads for the townships of the S shore. With its economic activity based on the forest and dairy industries and retail commerce, Nicolet was increasingly the centre for back-country agricultural parishes.

Strathmore, Alta, incorporated as a town in 1911, population 12 305 (2011c), 10 280 (2006c). The Town of Strathmore is located 40 km east of CALGARY. Strathmore was named after Charles Bowes-Lyon, 13th earl of Strathmore (1824-1904), a forefather of Queen Elizabeth II.
A navigation centre for the lake and an internationally renowned summer resort until the early 20th century, Roberval also had a few sawmills. The Ursulines built their provincial convent here in 1882. A hospital was added in 1918.
Russell, Manitoba, incorporated as a village in 1907 and as a town in 1913, population 1669 (2011c), 1590 (2006c). The Town of Russell is an agricultural service centre 350 km northwest of Winnipeg near the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border.
Morris, Manitoba, incorporated as a town in 1883, population 1797 (2011c), 1643 (2006c). The Town of Morris is located at the confluence of the Red and Morris rivers, 55 km south of Winnipeg.
In the 19th century, Sainte-Agathe had only a few sawmills, but the construction of the Montreal and Occidental Railway in 1892 (replaced by the CPR in 1900) encouraged tourism and the development of the hotels that have become the region's economic mainstay.
Spaniard's Bay, NL, incorporated as a town in 1965, population 2622 (2011c), 2540 (2006c). The Town of Spaniard's Bay is located north of Bay Roberts on the west side of Conception Bay.
