Maria Campbell, O.C., Cree-Métis writer, playwright, filmmaker, scholar, teacher and elder (born 26 April 1940 in Park Valley, SK). Campbell’s memoir Halfbreed (1973) is regarded as a foundational piece of Indigenous literature in Canada for its attention to the discrimination, oppression and poverty that some Métis women (and Indigenous people, in general) experience in Canada. Campbell has authored several other books and plays, and has directed and written scripts for a number of films. As an artist, Campbell has worked with Indigenous youth in community theatre and advocated for the hiring and recognition of Indigenous people in the arts. She has mentored many Indigenous artists during her career.

The Professional Native Indian Artists Inc. (PNIAI) was one of the first independently organized, self-managed Indigenous artists’ collectives and cultural advocacy groups in Canada.

Larry Ellsworth Lake, composer, trumpeter, broadcaster, producer (born 2 Jul 1943 in Greenville, Pennsylvania; died 17 September 2013 in Toronto, ON). Larry Lake was perhaps best known as the long-time host of CBC Radio Two’s flagship new music program, Two New Hours (1978–2007). A founding member of the Canadian Electronic Ensemble, he also performed widely as a soloist and was an accomplished composer. He was a member of the Canadian League of Composers and the Canadian Electroacoustic Community and an associate of the Canadian Music Centre. He received awards from the Canadian Music Council (1982, 1984, 1987) and three Juno Award nominations, as well as the Friends of Canadian Music Award in 2002.
Vivienne Antonia Helen Spiteri, harpsichordist, teacher, writer, composer, translator (born 23 April 1953 in B’Kara, Malta). Vivienne Spiteri specializes in contemporary works for harpsichord, as well as avant-garde compositions and performances of electroacoustic music. Her principal interest is in the interactive performance of harpsichord, live electronics, and taped recordings. She has performed and recorded throughout Canada and around the world. She is a member of SOCAN, the Canadian Electroacoustic Community, and the Société des auteurs, compositeurs et éditeurs de musique (SACEM).
