China Arrests Two Canadians Accused of Espionage
Two Canadians detained in China in December 2018, likely in retaliation for the arrest of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou in Vancouver on 1 December 2018, were formally charged with espionage. Michael Kovrig, a former diplomat, and Michael Spavor, who led tours into North Korea, could face the death penalty for the alleged charges.
