Susan Shipton, picture editor, director (b Toronto). Susan Shipton graduated with a degree in film studies from Queen's University in 1982. In 1985 she was Ron SANDERS' assistant on David CRONENBERG's The Fly and in 1991 she edited her first feature, Atom EGOYAN's The Adjuster. She has edited most of his films since and is one of the finest film editors working today in Canada.
She has won GENIE AWARDS for THE SWEET HEREAFTER and Robert LEPAGE's Possible Worlds, and has received 4 Genie nominations. She has won 2 Directors Guild of Canada Craft Awards for outstanding picture editing for Being Julia and Chloe. In 2000 she wrote, produced, directed and edited the short Hindsight (based on a play by Dennis FOON), which was nominated for best short at the Montreal World Film FestivaL. She also edited Blessed Stranger: After Flight III, which was nominated for a GEMINI AWARD for best editing in a dramatic program.
Her other films include I Love a Man in Uniform, The Lotus Eaters, EXOTICA, When Night Is Falling, Long Day's Journey into Night, Love and Death on Long Island, Felicia's Journey, ARARAT, Foolproof, Where the Truth Lies, Adoration, Breakfast with Scot and the Oscar-nominated BARNEY'S VERSION.
